Accreditations
Joint Commission accredited.
2006 CAP accredited.
2005 – Research Program surveyed by the National Commission of Quality Assurance (NCQA), resulting in a full 3-year accreditation.
2006 Cancer Program accreditation - American College of Surgeons, under the purview of Commission on Cancer, awarded accredited status to the Cancer Program, with three years with accommodation.
2007 Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care International http://www.aaalac.org/ * (AAALAC) International (the Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care International) is a nonprofit organization that endorses the humane treatment of animals in science through voluntary accreditation and assessment programs. Kansas City VA Medical Center joins more than 730 institutions around the world that have earned this accreditation, demonstrating our commitment to responsible animal care and use in research.
Achievements
• Recognized by Blacks in Government in 2007 for the Agency award, for demonstrating and promoting diversity.
• Awarded grants totaling more than $5 million to enhance and expand our mental health program.
• Awarded grant money for in-home tele-health for our veteran patients.
• Kansas City Health Sciences Library Network recognized KCVAMC Medical library as an outstanding Health Sciences Library
